Papaya Leaf Extract
Carica papaya
Papaya (Carica papaya) is a soft-stemmed tropical tree of three to seven metres, its straight trunk scarred by fallen leaf stalks and topped by a crown of large leaves, each blade cut into six to nine pointed lobes on a hollow stalk thirty to fifty centimetres long. Native to tropical America and now grown throughout Vietnam, though never yet on an industrial scale, it is raised from seed and begins to bear eight to ten months after planting. Trunk, root and leaf all run with a latex, and the leaf carries carpaine, a bitter alkaloid.
