Pseuderanthemum
Pseuderanthemum palatiferum
Hoàn ngọc (Pseuderanthemum palatiferum) is a small shrubby perennial of the Acanthaceae, with paired, simple leaves on stems whose opposite leaf-stalks are joined by a raised transverse ridge. It grows fast, strikes readily from softwood cuttings and does best in a rich, well-drained soil under partial shade. In Vietnam it is recorded from Lạng Sơn and Ninh Bình and is planted in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and many other places, and it occurs also in India and southern China. It is kept around houses, and the leaves are taken fresh: chewed with a few grains of salt, pounded for their juice, or cooked in soup.
