Brown Rice Tea

Oryza sativa

Rice (Oryza sativa) is an annual grass standing seventy centimetres to a metre and a half tall, with long rough-edged blades, tall white sheaths and a branching panicle of small yellowish spikelets. Each grain clings tightly to the husk around it, and the two together are what Vietnamese call hạt lúa. A plant of tropical Asia, rice is grown as the staple food everywhere in Vietnam, in a plain and a glutinous kind. The grain, the bran milled from it and even the roots are all put to use, and can be had at any time of year.
