Chrysanthemum indicum
Chrysanthemum indicum, the yellow-flowered kim cúc, is an upright plant of the daisy family about 90 cm tall, with deeply lobed leaves and globe-shaped flower heads only 1 to 1.5 cm across, yellow throughout. It is widely grown in Vietnam from stem cuttings set out in May and June, above all in the villages of Nghĩa Trai in Hưng Yên and Nhật Tân in Hà Nội, and picked from September. The flowers are pressed overnight and then dried, five to six kilos of fresh flowers yielding one kilo dried; they are used to scent tea and steeped in rice wine.
