Adenosma
Adenosma indianum
Adenosma (Adenosma indianum), known in Vietnam as bồ bồ, is a small herb 15 to 70 centimetres tall, branching from the base, with opposite lance-shaped leaves and tight globe-shaped heads of tiny stalkless flowers. It grows wild on hills and field edges across the northern midlands, most of all in Vĩnh Phúc, Phú Thọ, Bắc Giang and Bắc Ninh; no one has yet taken it into cultivation. The flowering plant is cut in summer, dried, and tied into bundles of about twenty stems. It gives around one per cent of an essential oil, chiefly fenchone, limonene and humulene, pungent in smell and close to camphor and mint.
