Gynura Powder
Gynura procumbens
Gynura (Gynura procumbens), known in Vietnam as bầu đất or kim thất, is a herb that trails and half-climbs to about a metre, its succulent stems branching freely. The leaves are thick and brittle, oblong, pale green beneath and faintly purple above with green veins. In spring and summer the plant tops carry clusters of purple flower heads filled with yellow tubular florets. It is found across India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, where it grows wild and is also planted as a leaf vegetable, the whole plant cut in early summer. It goes into soups or is dressed as a salad, and tastes bitter and aromatic.
