Cucurbita moschata
Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) is a long, trailing vine of the gourd family, its smooth, lobed leaves often marked with pale blotches and its fruit stalks grooved. The plant came from tropical America and is grown in many places, Vietnam among them, for fruit treated as a vegetable. The plant carries fruit between June and August; the mature fruit is gathered and its flesh taken out and used fresh, usually cooked, while the seeds are kept too, fresh or dried in the sun. The fruit is musky, the note that separates this pumpkin from its close relatives.
